One of the most interesting bands of the 1970s, undeservedly neglected by their contemporaries. A marvellous example of typical English art-rock with its magic-transparent colouring. Fantasy is: Paul Lawrence (vocals, 12-string guitar), David Reid (bass guitar, vocals), David Mitcalf (keyboards, vocals), Peter James (lead guitar, vocals) and John Webster (percussion, vocals). ‘Paint the Picture’ (1973) is the band's debut LP, on which the twenty-year-old British gentlemen from Kent County managed to demonstrate the maturity and originality of their ideas and, significantly, their own original sound. One can only wonder how the critics of that time could have overlooked the ensemble, which, after three decades, has been recognised as ‘sympho-prog classics’.
