"Creeping Death is a song by American thrash metal band Metallica. It was released as the second single from the album Ride the Lightning. The song is written on behalf of the angel of death, he describes the ten Egyptian executions. It is one of the most played songs of the band, sometimes it is used in various tours as an opening song of the set-list. It acts as a classic example of a thrash metal song, although its tempo is slower than the material on the first Kill 'Em All album. The middle section of the song, based on the ominous chanting of "Die!", features a chord sequence played in a Phrygian harmony, which also gives fans a chance to participate in the performance of the song.
