After a very solid debut album ('Black Earth'), Arch Enemy return with a similar album in texture and style with 'Stigmata', heavy in bass and with a thick girth to the overall sound, ridden with dominant melodic components in every track, in the typical early Swedish melodeath tradition. Although the album did come out relatively late (1998), in feel and production it sounds closer to that first wave of Swedish melodeath, darker and more rustic and underground.
