100 Flowers (formerly known as The Urinals) were a powerful trio whose 1983 single album is a timeless document of the Southern California underground. Founded in the crime-ridden Los Angeles of the '80s against a backdrop of teenage hardcore and empty hard rock, 100 Flowers created a sound that fell between the inspired bursts of The Minutemen and the pastoral jangle of The Dream Syndicate, with similarities to the equally oblique Monitor and The Gun Club (who even included a cover of The Urinals in their set).
