The debut album by British band Hard Stuff, released in 1972 on Purple Records (a label associated with Deep Purple), is a true distillation of the raw energy of early hard rock with elements of psychedelia and progressive rock. The band consisted of musicians with serious backgrounds: guitarist John Du Can (formerly of Atomic Rooster), bassist and vocalist John Gustafson (Quatermass) and drummer Paul Hammond (Atomic Rooster). This trio alone guaranteed the album a high level of musicality.
