East Wind was a pioneering jazz label founded in 1974 as a result of a full-fledged collaboration between Ai Music (at the time) and Nihon Phonogram (at the time). For about five years, the label released albums by Japanese musicians such as Masaaki Kikuchi, Sadao Watanabe and Terumasa Hino, as well as musicians who were creative on the world jazz scene at the time. Not only the quality of the performance, but also the artwork, which involved the best designers and photographers, was groundbreaking and completely changed the image of the jazz album, and had a great influence on subsequent editions of the recordings.
