The film was released worldwide on Amazon Prime. The franchise has been called a ‘pop culture phenomenon’ for its impact, and Hiroki Adzuma, one of the most influential critics in Japan, called EVANGELION: 3.0+1.0 ‘a great masterpiece’. Outside of Japan, the film received a score of 84 on Metacritic, meaning ‘universal acclaim,’ and it has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
