Released in October 1980, the album captured the band's transformation. Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphrey moved away from naive melodies towards a large-scale, almost orchestral sound of synthesizers. The album's title is a reference to the band Organisation (a precursor to Kraftwerk), emphasising the musicians' deep respect for the German electronic school.

The album's highlight is the anti-war anthem Enola Gay, which combines a danceable rhythm with tragic undertones. The album is also known for its cover by legendary designer Peter Saville (creator of Joy Division's covers), whose minimalist style perfectly conveys the mood of the music.
