Anathema weren't "obsessed with Pink Floyd" then, as this is something that Duncan Patterson brought to the band later. All of the music on this first album has been written by guitarist Daniel Cavanagh. The album is very typical of early 1990's doom-death metal, as defined by Paradise Lost's first two albums, which was a the biggest influence on Anathema at that point, as they've acknowledged.
