So, ‘Straight Between The Eyes’ is a harder and guitar-driven album, just like the good old days. Yes, it still has some of those commercial elements, but now it has an added momentum thanks to Richie's riffs. Joe Lynn Turner is still here to keep it appealing, but he did a good enough job without seeming too out of place. Drummer Bobby Rondinelli shows off his skills, finding a balance between aggression and groove. Roger Glover once again demonstrated that he is a terrific bassist, able to hold a solid foundation in a way that few others can. Keyboardist David Rosenthal stays in the background for most of the album, taking a mostly atmospheric approach that works well. And Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, well, what else is there to say?
