Hailing from the vast country of Canada Despised Icon is a band spawned from the notorious fusion of hardcore and seemingly death metal. The current exponential growth of bands of this new, so-called ‘deathcore’ genre has even surpassed the Morbid Angel or Slayer wave of the late 90s, which is obviously the latest trend in ‘brutal’ and ‘aggressive’ music. If metalcore established itself in the early 2000s as a combination of emo music and groove, deathcore appeared a little later, taking forms more like hip-hop or hardcore than the real heavy metal proclaimed in the 80s.
