Last year, Einaudi visited a villa on a Mediterranean island and saw that the house was decorated with 30 or 40 beautiful oil paintings, clearly done by the same hand. During his little research, he came across the story of a woman who owned the house and spent every summer there with her family. Each summer she would create new paintings and leave them in the house. ‘I started thinking about my summers, a time when my life was intimately connected to all my senses, when days seemed like months and months seemed like years, when I was free from morning to evening, when every day was a new discovery of life, and when nature was an integral part of it, we were nature,’ he says. ‘A beautiful period associated with the best moments of our lives. So I started painting my own pictures with music. This album is dedicated to all our endless summer memories, all our beautiful moments.’
