The Japanese deluxe edition of The Beatles' legendary double album (1968), better known as the ‘White Album,’ was reissued in 2018 in 3 SHM-CD format. This release from Universal Music Group's Japanese division is designed for audiophiles and collectors and features a new remix of the album along with rare demo recordings.
The first two discs include the complete album in a 2018 stereo mix prepared by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell, created from the original master tapes. The third disc contains the famous Esher Demos — 27 acoustic recordings made in May 1968 at George Harrison's house while preparing material for the album.
The release comes in a Digipak format with a booklet and lyrics. The discs are manufactured in SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format, a Japanese production technology that uses improved polycarbonate for more accurate laser reading and clearer sound on standard CD players.
