The Germans seemed unsure of both their musical course and their commercial prospects. The guys dived briefly into speed metal (opening both sides of the record) and offered some traditional metal tunes (for example, the good ‘Fight for Freedom’). The title track is not lacking in speed, power and energy. The only slight flaw was the guitar solo, which didn't fit with the rest of the song.
Continuing further down the tracklist, the listener will be happy to find a lot of good guitar parts. Both ‘Witch Hunter’ and ‘Night Drifter’ feature hammering rhythms, as well as some decent lead moments.
However, all the other tracks are not memorable from the first listen, with the exception of the aforementioned and really good cover of Alice Cooper's ‘School's Out’, which is better than the original and even better than the version Krokus did. Another standout song here is the last one, ‘Here I Stand’, with a lot of credit going to the galloping riff during the chorus.
Overall, this album doesn't compare in any way to the debut album, but it's still solid heavy metal! It's not a must-have for any metal fan, but it's definitely a must-buy for any Grave Digger fan.
