The Evil Rapper Zenik — Andriy Kuzmenko’s hooligan alter ego and one of the most uncompromising facets of his artistry.

Here, you won’t find the lyrical Kuzma from the big radio hits. Instead, there’s Zenik — a grotesque character who observes the reality around him and speaks about it in a way that’s never heard on television: crudely, absurdly, comically, at times awkwardly, and completely uncensored.
Kuzma himself referred to Zenik as his stage name and emphasised that he was ‘not a showbiz persona’. This character gave him the freedom to go where ordinary irony was no longer enough.
Behind the swear words, the mixed Ukrainian-Russian dialect and the deliberate primitivism lies what Kuzmenko was particularly good at: observing people and spotting the absurdity around him. Everyday life, politics, migrant labour, television, mass culture, stereotypes, money and showing off — everything became material for his satire.
In 2012, this world took shape in Zalupa Rock — nine tracks and 27 minutes of pure Zenik:
‘Spain’, ‘You’re talking a load of rubbish’, ‘Honduras’, ‘Metalists’, ‘Fuck’, ‘Karakuleva’s fur coat’, ‘The woman with the dick’, ‘GMOs’, ‘There are loads of us’.
The song titles alone make it clear: there was no intention of censoring anything here.
