The Strut label presents a brand new reissue of Juju's powerful 1974 Afrocentric album ‘Chapter Two: Nia’, originally released on the Strata East label.
Juju became local Virginian conduits of progressive ideas that spread nationally and internationally, attracting a small, active group of artists and supporters. However, being in the South, Richmond's black music audience leaned towards blues, gospel and soul. After much deliberation, Juju decided to incorporate drums and backbeat into their repertoire, blending these rhythms with electric sounds, and rebranded as Oneness Of Juju. With a new line-up and renewed energy, the band began a new chapter, releasing their album of classic African rhythms a year later.
