Welcome To The DCC’, the first single from the album, not only signals a more intense sound for the band, but also advertises the world of “DCC”, known as “Dead Club City”, as well as new songs and ideas. It's a rock song, but with an experimental funk bent and 80s influence, the track builds up the tension at the beginning, moving into upbeat synths and a powerful soaring chorus. The band adds: ‘'Welcome to the dcc, dead club city. All the heaven, all the time.’
On their 11-track album, the band showcases their city-sized, members-only club, Dead Club City. The album's tracklist is shaped by various characters and storylines from the city and its surroundings. Is it a collective consciousness? Another planet? The next corporate wasteland? A paradise? Or something else?
Using the club as a focal point, it's easy to imagine the real intent behind Dead Club City. Themes such as advertising, unity, internet culture, the music industry, issues of ageing and politics, as well as escapism and change, are emphasised by the alienation or privilege of a club reserved for only a select few.
