The Knife sought to bring allusions to their socialist political ideals to Deep Cuts through the democratisation of art. The duo created calypso-tinged electronic pop music and used it to combat entrenched structural formations such as the police state, toxic masculinity and domestic violence. It was a spoonful of auditory sugar to offset the bitterness of grim reality. Deep Cuts offered people a chance to dance when faced with a troubled world.
