There"s Always Blood At The End Of The Road (Splatter Vinyl)

On the fourth album from the Belgian black metallers Wiegedood we fully get all their signature "schticks": a downtuning, still not very typical for black metal, a sharply distorted guitar, a (quasi-)shamanic throat singing from time to time, and, of course, an abundance of cruelly piercing melodies. The songs, as always, have an intelligible production. However, the material has become more aggressive and rough even brutal than before. But more importantly, if before Wiegedood were, to be perfectly blunt, just another modern black metal band, now we can talk about some kind of innovation. They found an interesting approach. Well, if "There's Always Blood at the End of the Road" is their first album you have heard, then the previous ones may even disappoint you. 
Well, all this talk about the post-apocalyptic picture is purely for clarity and figurativeness: "There's Always Blood at the End of the Road" is almost the opposite of the old school style with regard to melodism. However, that much is true, there is a lot of despair and frustration in Wiegedood's music. Almost every solo on the album fills the soul with oppressive emotions, the most striking example is the piercing solo on "Until It Is Not". In its turn, "Now Will Always Be", the longest song on the album, is a very atmospheric composition, filled to overflowing with melancholy and despair. If you slow this piece down, you get a typical depressive black metal exemplar. However, it will not be an ingenious piece at all, so it's better not to do anything with this masterpiece. The final "Carousel" is another great example of post-apocalyptic desperation. A caustic chuckle is heard in the opening riff, it repeats "endlessly" again, ah, it's either torture or mockery. And in the finale, an abnormal wild atonal solo comes in, well, the melody seems to pulsate in it, but it completely dissolves in despair.
