All the tracks were written under different circumstances – amidst air raid sirens, shelling and blackouts, at home, abroad, in various studios… and with various musicians: Stas Chornyi, Anton Chilibi, Pavlo Bilousov, Vlad Libenson, Oleksandr Slinchenko, Vasyl Kozma, Anton Kukri, Serhii Sydorenko and Hordii Starukh all contributed to the creation. Most of the tracks, including the already well-known hits “Heartbeat”, “And I Just Kept Crying” and “Nitroglycerine”, were co-written with Misha Katsurin (11 out of 12 songs were created by their creative partnership) and Ivan Klymenko.
DOROFEEVA herself admits that during the saddest times, more positive songs were written, and during the brightest – more philosophical, reflective songs.
This album is my outlet, and songwriting is what saved me from our terrible present. All this time, for the first time in my adult life, I truly immersed myself in music, which set me free. This album brings together my very different emotions, different states of mind… I allowed myself to accept myself as I am, to trust myself, to be myself, imperfect as I am. I allowed myself to finally open my soul and simply speak through my songs. And I would very much like them not just to be liked, but to have the power to help in some way, to prompt some important thoughts, so that, whilst listening to them, one can both cry and smile” – DOROFEEVA.
