‘- Why did you want to do remixes during Penguin Dance?
С: In the life of every musician whose work is popular with the masses, there comes a time when you want to take stock. The album ‘Penguin Dance’ is practically something like ‘The Greatest Hits’ in the West - just in dance remixes. In the case of the new song ‘Glue’, it's the brightest song on ‘Worm’, and that's why we made three completely different stylistically remixes of it. In our case, we want to make a remix in order to extend the life of the song by expanding the audience that will listen to it and enriching its harmony with other instruments or effects. Indeed, we have songs that we want to play forever: ‘Till Death and Beyond’, ‘Nobody Needs That’, ‘Penguin Dance’, ‘Glue’ and others.
- The song ‘Penguin Dance’ was written a long time ago - why did you decide to release it so late?
К: We wrote ‘Penguin Dance’ in 1992. It was the first of our songs to take first place on the first Radio Nezalezhnist charts in Lviv at the time. Perhaps it would have met the same fate as its 120 brothers, which almost no one had heard, but we had planned to write an album of remixes of the best songs, and . . it would be sad without her.
- The album ‘Penguin's Dance’ received the least promotion, the CD was released before ‘Worm’ - why?
К: That's a shame! For the first time in our lives, we relied on people who were supposed to be responsible for the quality of that project, but it turned out to be a big PSC. . . At first, it took a long time to reach an agreement on the distribution of the cassettes. The result was a catastrophic delay in the album's release - more than four months. At that time, we were already finishing the recording of ‘Worm’. After the ‘Penguin Dance’ video, no new videos were filmed. And almost every song on the album deserves it. Now the people behind it have remembered that they wanted to make money on Penguin's cassettes, and are starting the steps of ‘promotion’ a year late - a CD has been released, an album poster is planned, and a music video is being discussed. Maybe something will come of it. We're not interested in that anymore - we've released ‘Worm’ and are writing a new album.
- ‘Penguin Dance’ is a song about Kyiv. Does Kyiv put pressure on you now, as it used to?
К: ‘Dance’ can't be about Kyiv, as it was written before I moved here, but I liked the idea. As for pressure, I'm a grown-up now, and no one puts any pressure on me. I'm far above all that ‘pressure’. I know how to create comfort for myself.’
